GWEN WAWN

“Born and raised in Zimbabwe, I now live in Harare. After working as a radiographer in Zimbabwe and the UK, I found my true calling in the wilds of Africa. Twenty-six years ago, a close friend offered me the chance to run his safari company, which my business partner Victoria and I eventually purchased and grew successfully. My passion for nature and wildlife photography has taken me across Africa, from Tanzania to South Africa, experiencing its diverse landscapes and wildlife.

Some of my most memorable moments include witnessing the migration in Tanzania, tracking a leopard in Botswana, and walking with a bull elephant in Mana Pools. I seek out the best wildlife destinations and intimate camps, and it would be my privilege to share Africa’s magic with you, creating a journey that exceeds your expectations”.

“My love for the bush began in childhood, visiting Zimbabwean National Parks with my parents. After school, I trained as a guide in Hwange National Park, balancing guiding with managing safari camp logistics. Despite traveling through Europe, Australia, North America, and Asia, Africa’s pull brought me back to safari lodges in Matusadona and Mana Pools. In 1999, I co-founded a destination management company with my business partner, Gwen.

As an avid horse rider and wildlife enthusiast, the Okavango Delta is a favourite for its stunning contrasts and diverse experiences. Another cherished spot is Chilo Gorge Safari Lodge near Gonarezhou National Park, known for its remoteness and unique wildlife, like giraffes and baboons. When planning a safari, I focus on understanding your interests, budget, and preferred destinations to create a memorable and exciting adventure tailored to you”.
